Australia are expected to wrap up top spot in the Cricket World Cup round-robin table by brushing aside South Africa in Birmingham.

The Aussies will be keen to finish at the summit in order to secure a semi-final clash with neighbours New Zealand, rather than having to tackle hosts England.

Pace bowlers have done well at Edgbaston during this tournament, but the Proteas are sadly lacking in this department.

On the other hand, Mitchell Starc has been in outstanding form with 24 wickets so far and 10/1 for him to be named man of the match is our first Australia vs South Africa prediction.

A Look At Australia’s Betting Odds

Australia have recovered well from losing to India, with back-to-back victories over fellow semi-finalists England and New Zealand capping off a five-match winning sequence.

The Three Lions were beaten by 64 runs before an 86-run demolition of the Black Caps took their overall tally of triumphs to seven.

Starc starred with figures of five for 26 as he ripped through the Kiwis’ flimsy batting order to help skittle them out for 157.

“I think our chances of winning the tournament are as good as any other team now,” said the paceman.

“We’ve always talked about peaking at the back-end of the tournament.

“We’ve shown glimpses of what we’re capable of, but we’ve still got room to improve and that’s exciting.”

Usman Khawaja had earlier hit 88 following a rare double failure for David Warner and Aaron Finch, so he could be value at 4/1 to top score for his team again from the Australia vs South Africa odds.

A Look At South Africa’s Betting Odds

South Africa’s hopes of lifting the trophy ended some time ago, but they did at least double their win tally in fine style versus Sri Lanka last weekend.

Chris Morris and Dwaine Pretorius took three wickets apiece as the Crusaders were bowled out for 203.

Lasith Malinga dismissed Quinton de Kock for 15 but Faf du Plessis and Hashim Amla steered the Proteas to victory with unbeaten knocks of 96 and 80 respectively.

Du Plessis is at least finishing the tournament strongly, having previously scored 63 in defeat against Pakistan.

Punters can get 3/1 for him to be the Proteas’ top batsman for the third game in a row and that completes our Australia vs South Africa betting tips.
