Sunday’s Premier League relegation battle between West Brom and Newcastle has all the makings of a tight tussle, with goals sure to be at a premium.

Only one team has scored fewer times on home turf than Albion this term, while the Magpies have the third-lowest tally in away matches.

Punters can get 17/10 for under 1.5 goals in this game and that is our first West Brom vs Newcastle prediction.

A Look At West Bromwich Albion’s Betting Odds

West Brom are nine points from safety following Thursday’s 1-0 loss to Everton at this venue and look doomed for the drop at this stage.

Richarlison’s second-half header proved decisive after Mbaye Diagne’s potential stoppage-time equaliser was ruled out for offside.

The Baggies pinned their visitors back for long spells in the first half and Diagne had other chances, but Albion’s threat began to wane until the last-gasp VAR decision went against them.

Sam Allardyce felt his side should have had an early penalty and said: “We feel hard done by, but most of it is our own fault.

“It’s a massive setback, a massive disappointment for the players and we have to take the blame ourselves for not finishing opportunities or creating more.

“We scored a great goal and it was half a toenail offside, but now we need to punch through the pain barrier.

“We will still be feeling the mental and physical exhaustion of this game on Sunday.”

However, that wasn’t a bad effort from the Baggies, who had previously been unbeaten in three games, drawing with Manchester United and Burnley before beating Brighton.

Diagne has looked a handful since joining on loan from Galatasaray, so if you do fancy a first scorer bet, he appeals at 5/1 from the West Brom vs Newcastle odds.

Last West Brom line-up: Johnstone, Furlong, Bartley, Townsend, O’Shea, Phillips, Gallagher, Maitland-Niles, Yokuslu, Pereira, Diagne.

A Look At Newcastle United’s Betting Odds

Fourth-from-bottom Newcastle edged closer to survival when drawing 1-1 with Wolves at St James’ Park last weekend.

That result also did us a favour, as our match preview contained a trio of successful selections, including a 23/4 correct score pay-out.

Jamaal Lascelles gave the Magpies a deserved lead when heading home in the second half, but Ruben Neves levelled things up on 73 minutes.

However, picking up that useful point came at a cost, as influential front men Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin joined 10-goal striker Callum Wilson on the injured list.

The loss of Almiron and Saint-Maximin will take much of the pace out of a team which is most effective on the counter-attack and replacing that will be challenging.

Steve Bruce will now have to rely upon £40million record signing Joelinton, who has scored just three goals in 58 league appearances, plus Dwight Gayle and Andy Carroll.

“Our top goalscorer last year only scored six goals and we managed to find a way and get some results,” commented Bruce.

“It’s been pretty brutal to us in that respect to our big players, so we’ll have to get on with it and accept it and take on the challenge.”

Midfielder Matt Ritchie has apologised after a training ground bust-up with Bruce, who suggested the substitute had not passed on information from the touchline seconds before Wolves scored their equaliser.

This feels like a good time to take the Magpies on, though, so 13/2 for a 1-0 home victory is added to our West Brom vs Newcastle betting tips.

Last Newcastle line-up: Dubravka, Clark, Lascelles, Lewis, Krafth, Shelvey, Hayden, Almiron, Willock, Joelinton, Saint-Maximin.
