Reading vs Swansea: City happy to share the spoils

Kick-off: 1200, 25/04/2021

Stadium: Madejski Stadium

Swansea have struggled for consistency of late but only need a draw when visiting Reading to be assured of a place in the Championship play-offs.

The Royals are just outside the top six and could still sneak in if closing the regular season with a trio of wins, but whether they have the quality is open to question.

We’re snapping up 11/5 for City to secure a share of the spoils at Madejski Stadium for our first Reading vs Swansea prediction.

A Look At Reading’s Betting Odds

Reading have drawn five of their last eight matches following back-to-back stalemates versus Cardiff and Luton.

The Royals have only managed to beat relegation-threatened Derby during that period and now look set to miss out on promotion.

Veljko Paunovic’s side registered just one shot on target during Wednesday’s goalless draw at Kenilworth Road.

Paunovic said: “We have to convert our opportunities and it’s not going to be many opportunities at this point of the season.

“You have to be clinical, we have to know it’s not going to be an easy or perfect opportunity, it’s probably going to be a sloppy ball, or a bounce-back or a rebound.

“And you’re going to have an opponent on top of you, but that’s what teams do in order to get results and that’s what we’re going to have to get better at.

“We have to have that killer instinct…understanding how important it is that you get in the final third, you get set, finish, score. We’ve got to work on that.”

The Royals’ previous four draws all finished 1-1, so 11/2 for that scoreline to come up again appeals from the Reading vs Swansea odds.

A Look At Swansea City’s Betting Odds

Swansea’s already slim hopes of challenging for automatic promotion faded away when they were beaten 1-0 at home by QPR on the same night that Watford won at Norwich.

City felt the loss of 15-goal top scorer Andre Ayew, who was missing with a hamstring injury suffered in a previous 2-2 draw with Wycombe.

“We are disappointed because of the number of chances we created in the first half which we didn’t take and it cost us,” said Steve Cooper.

“I would have expected to have taken one. We didn’t manage to create as much in the second half, because we turned the ball over and lacked composure.

“That’s not like us. We conceded territory and that’s how they took advantage with the goal at the end.”

Cooper insisted a top-two finish was still mathematically possible, but making sure of a play-offs spot must be the priority now.

There were no goals when these teams met at Liberty Stadium at the end of December and another tight tussle is on the cards.

Let’s finish off our Reading vs Swansea betting tips by taking 17/5 for the scores to be level at half-time and full-time again here.
