Leicester and Spurs to draw @ 12/5
The Foxes were undone by an early Marcus Rashford penalty in a tight tussle at Man Utd last weekend but had previously impressed in a 3-1 home win over Bournemouth and also have a 1-1 draw at Chelsea to their credit this season. Spurs have shown glimpses of their true quality, but their progress has been hampered by a number of lapses in concentration, as highlighted again in Wednesday’s 2-2 stalemate at Olympiacos, so we’re going for these teams to share the spoils in our Premier League predictions.
Norwich to win at Burnley @ 13/5
Daniel Farke pledged to stand by his attacking principals after securing promotion to the Premier League and that decision paid big dividends in a memorable 3-2 triumph over Man City at Carrow Road. With Teemu Pukki on fire up front, the Canaries are a value bet to follow that stunning success with another win at Burnley. This will be a totally different test, but the Clarets were beaten 10 times at Turf Moor last season and have had mixed results here this term.
Everton to beat Sheff Utd @ 13/20
Marco Silva’s side are a different team on home turf and have already beaten Watford and Wolves at Goodison Park this term. That has continued an impressive run of results on Merseyside, having seen off Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd here at the end of last season. The Blades came from 2-0 down to rescue a 2-2 draw at Chelsea in their previous away game but failed to build on that as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Southampton last weekend and that inconsistency makes them worth taking on.
Man City -1 goal versus Watford @ 33/100
Pep Guardiola’s men put that shock loss at Norwich behind them when enjoying a 3-0 triumph at Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. City have problems in defence, with Aymeric Laporte and John Stones out, but Fernandinho filled in impressively at the back in midweek. Going forward, the Blues look as good as ever, with Guardiola stating: “We created incredible chances and all the guys were fantastic.” Watford showed great spirit against Arsenal last time out but we haven’t forgotten the 6-0 thrashing by City in the FA Cup final.
Newcastle to beat Brighton @ 29/20
The Magpies have shown some encouraging signs in tough fixtures this season, upsetting Tottenham away, going down narrowly to Arsenal and leading for a while at Liverpool. Steve Bruce said: “We have acquitted ourselves very well up to a certain level. The next part is can we be a bigger threat, can we keep the ball better?” Albion have been moderate since kicking off their campaign with a cracking 3-0 triumph at Watford and we just feel Newcastle have a bit more quality for our Premier League predictions.
