Burnley to beat Bournemouth @ 23/20
The Clarets head into this game brimming with confidence after picking up 10 points out of a possible 12 over the past month and can also take heart from a fine head-to-head record against the Cherries, having won their last three encounters by an aggregate score of 8-1. Bournemouth are just two points above the relegation zone and still have Chelsea, Liverpool, Wolves, Man Utd, Tottenham, Leicester and Man City to play this season, so that may force them to open up at Turf Moor, which could easily backfire.
Crystal Palace to beat Newcastle @ 91/100
Goals are almost always at a premium when these teams do battle, but we’re hoping Palace can shade a tight tussle in our Premier League predictions. The Eagles have suffered three straight defeats, but Roy Hodgson remained upbeat after a 3-1 loss at Everton last time out, stating: “You have seen the team play and the amount of opportunities they created. If we can continue to do that, I am sure the goals will come.” Newcastle may still be shell-shocked from a 4-0 drubbing at Arsenal and have big injury problems.
Sheff Utd to beat Brighton @ 91/100
United are very much in the race for a top-four place, whereas Albion are looking over their shoulders at the relegation zone following a run of six league games without a win, so getting close to even-money for a home victory is rated good value here. The Blades have been very effective against teams towards the wrong end of the table and followed up a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace by beating Bournemouth 2-1 here, plus they prevailed in Brighton two months ago.
Southampton to beat Aston Villa @ 31/50
Saints claimed a convincing 3-1 victory when these teams met in the midlands just before Christmas and are fancied to do the double over Dean Smith’s side. Three straight league and cup losses is a concern, but two of those were away to Liverpool and Tottenham. Southampton rattled off seven wins in 11 top-flight fixtures prior to their little blip, so we’re not ready to give up on them just yet in our Premier League predictions.
Man City to win at Leicester @ 7/10
The Foxes have faltered a touch of late, picking up just one victory in their last five top-flight fixtures to slip four points behind the Blues. The visitors put a proposed European ban behind them when strolling to a 2-0 triumph over West Ham in midweek and seem in a defiant mood. Pep Guardiola’s side had 77 per cent of possession at Etihad Stadium and didn’t allow a single shot on target in a totally dominant display.
