Last season’s beaten finalists Tottenham are tipped to kick of their Champions League campaign this term with a Group B win at Olympiacos.
The hosts only picked up one point when competing at this level in 2017, while compatriots AEK Athens suffered six straight defeats a year ago.
We’re happy to take 17/20 for an away win as our initial Olympiacos vs Tottenham prediction.
A Look At Olympiacos’ Betting Odds
Olympiacos did hold mighty Barcelona to a goalless stalemate here when last reaching this stage, but they were beaten 2-0 by Juventus on home turf and lost 3-2 to Sporting Lisbon.
The Greek outfit did reasonably well in the Europa League last term, getting past Burnley in a play-off and beating AC Milan to finish second behind Real Betis in their group, but were then knocked out by Dynamo Kiev in the first knockout round.
Overcoming Viktoria Plzen, Basaksehir and Krasnodar to get this far again was a commendable effort, but we still need convincing they can hack it at elite level.
With captain Konstantinos Fortounis suffering a long-term injury, Spurs just need to cope with a hostile crowd to prove a cut above in our book.
Looking at the Olympiacos vs Tottenham odds, we like 39/20 for the visitors to lead at half-time and full-time.
A Look At Tottenham Hotspur’s Betting Odds
There were some negative vibes coming out of Tottenham over the opening weeks of this campaign but Saturday’s 4-0 drubbing of Crystal Palace was a welcome boost and the return of Champions League football should further help to get everyone back on track and fully focused.
Spurs were outstanding at this stage two seasons ago, dropping just two points in a pool featuring Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
They only just managed to scrape through their group last term, pipping Inter Milan to second place behind Barcelona.
However, there were some memorable nights in the knockout rounds as they saw off Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax.
Liverpool eventually proved too good in the final but Spurs strengthened well over the summer by bringing in Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis.
Allowing Kieran Trippier to leave was a questionable decision and they do not keep many clean sheets on the road, but holding on to Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen should provide good continuity.
Let’s add 29/10 for an away win and both teams to score to our Olympiacos vs Tottenham betting tips.
OLYMPIACOS 5-0 Volos NFC – Guilherme, El Aravi, Guerrero, Valbuena (pen), Soudani
TOTTENHAM 4-0 Crystal Palace – Son (2), Aanholt (og), Lamela
Head-to-head: Olympiacos 1-0 Tottenham, Tottenham 4-0 Olympiacos
