Everton and Manchester United head into Wednesday’s EFL Cup quarter-final clash in excellent form and this tie could well go to penalties.
The Toffees have won their last three Premier League matches while the Red Devils are coming off two victories and a derby draw with neighbours City.
Each manager has decent strength in depth if choosing to bring in fresh legs and a close encounter is on the cards.
We’re going for a draw at the end of normal time at 5/2 for our first Everton vs Man Utd prediction.
A Look At Everton’s Betting Odds
Everton have responded really well to a disappointing run of one win in six outings by getting the better of Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal.
That hat-trick of victories left them fourth in the table, only behind United on goal difference, albeit having played a game more.
Carlo Ancelotti this week celebrated a year in charge of the club and declared: “I think we are doing really well in this season.
“We are in a good position in the table and we showed in the last three games a lot of consistency, a lot of spirit and we have to be pleased by what we are doing now.”
Ancelotti stuck with many of his regular starters in previous rounds of this competition, with Salford beaten 3-0, Fleetwood 5-2 and West Ham 4-1.
The wily Italian will have learnt a lot about United from last month’s 3-1 league loss to them at this venue and will be ready with a suitable game plan here.
These teams drew 1-1 twice last term and 13/2 for a repeat of that scoreline catches the eye from the Everton vs Man Utd odds.
A Look At Manchester United’s Betting Odds
United lifted this trophy in 2017 and reached the semi-finals last season, so it is no surprise to see them enjoying another good run.
They have already claimed convincing 3-0 victories at Luton and Brighton, as well as winning six straight away games in the Premier League this term.
Sunday’s 6-2 triumph over Leeds was a sensational performance of attacking firepower, with the Red Devils having an incredible 26 attempts on goal, 14 of which were on target.
“Fantastic game by the boys,” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said. “The movement of the front lads and the cleanliness of some of the moves was a joy to watch.”
United were also outstanding on the break at Sheffield United recently but this is expected to be a different kind of test against a tactical guru like Ancelotti.
Solskjaer is also expected to ring the changes, with a tough trip to Leicester coming up in the league on Boxing Day.
Juan Mata should be one of the players to come in and he scored in both previous EFL Cup ties this term, to make it eight goals in 18 games in this competition for United and Chelsea.
Let’s take 14/5 for the veteran midfielder to hit the back of the net again here to finish off our Everton vs Man Utd betting tips.
