Rangers have already clinched the Scottish Premiership title and now face their biggest remaining hurdle in their bid to end the season unbeaten.
Steven Gerrard’s men have achieved their main aim of preventing Celtic winning a 10th successive league crown but the chance to end the league campaign without defeat should keep them focused.
Rangers won 2-0 in last month’s Old Firm derby in the Scottish Cup and another home win looks good value at 6/4 for our opening Rangers vs Celtic prediction.
A Look At Rangers’ Betting Odds
That victory over Celtic counted for very little when they were knocked out of the cup by St Johnstone in the semi-finals.
Dreams of the double were ended as Rangers were taken to extra-time and then conceded a 122nd-minute equaliser assisted by Saints goalkeeper Chris Kane before losing the subsequent penalty shoot-out.
Rangers have struggled to recapture top form since being confirmed champions and have crashed out of both the Europa League and the Scottish Cup but Gerrard insists their wild title celebrations are not to blame.
“I think it’s the easy way out, a cop-out, for us to use excuses from three or four weeks ago,” he said after the St Johnstone defeat.
“We felt fantastic back then and there was a lot of relief and emotions. Rightly so, we deserved that.
“But I made it clear the Scottish Cup was a priority and we needed to keep hungry. A lot of this game was alright. We had the best chances but you need to take them, or you get stung at the end of games.”
Ending the season with an unbeaten league record would go some way to making amends for their cup exits and Rangers have a perfect league record at Ibrox with two games to go in Govan, conceding just three goals.
Rangers have won three of this season’s four Old Firm derbies, keeping a clean sheet in all three victories, so a home win to nil appeals at 16/5 in the Rangers vs Celtic odds.
A Look At Celtic’s Betting Odds
Celtic have less to play for in a fixture which can never be described as a dead rubber, although Scott Brown will be determined to end on the winning team in his final Old Firm match.
They needed a Leigh Griffiths equaliser in the third minute of stoppage time to rescue a 1-1 draw at Aberdeen last time out, having previously gone 388 minutes without a goal on their travels.
The Hoops must improve on their recent visit to Ibrox when they fell behind to a Steven Davis goal in only the 10th minute before full-back Jonjoe Kenny put through his own goal in the 33rd minute under pressure from Gers attacker Ryan Kent.
Kent was involved in much of Rangers’ best play, with his quick feet giving Celtic problems, and he has scored in five of his last 11 appearances in all competitions.
Let’s go for the winger to open the scoring at 8/1 as our final Rangers vs Celtic prediction.
RANGERS 1-1 St Johnstone (St Johnstone won 4-2 on penalties) – James Tavernier
Aberdeen 1-1 CELTIC – Leigh Griffiths
Head-to-head: Rangers 2-0 Celtic, Celtic 1-1 Rangers, Rangers 1-0 Celtic, Celtic 0-2 Rangers, Celtic 1-2 Rangers, Rangers 0-1 Celtic, Rangers 0-2 Celtic
