Kick-off: 2000, 06/07/2019

Stadium: Cairo International Stadium

TV: Eurosport

Egypt look worthy 3/1 favourites to claim an eighth Africa Cup of Nations title and are tipped to brush aside South Africa at the last-16 stage.

The hosts were rock-solid in securing three straight pool wins, whereas Bafana Bafana have already been beaten by both Ivory Coast and Morocco at this tournament.

As the Pharaohs have yet to concede a single goal, 11/10 they win to nil again is our opening Egypt vs South Africa prediction.

A Look At Egypt’s Betting Odds

Egypt kicked off with a 1-0 victory against Zimbabwe and then enjoyed smooth 2-0 successes versus DR Congo and Uganda.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah missed a couple of chances in the opener, but then netted in the next two triumphs, along with Aston Villa’s Ahmed Elmohamady.

“To win three games with clean sheets is a great thing – this gives us a morale boost for the rest of the tournament,” beamed Elmohamady.

Head coach Javier Aguirre admitted the weight of expectation has put pressure on his side, playing in front of almost 75,000 fans.

However, the confidence is growing within this team that they can justify that support.

Looking at the Egypt vs South Africa odds, we like 11/2 for the run of 2-0 victories to continue.

A Look At South Africa’s Betting Odds

South Africa have a couple of useful attacking options in Belgium-based Percy Tau and Strasbourg’s Lebo Mothiba, but they have found it tough going up front so far.

Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu managed to find the net in a 1-0 triumph over Namibia, but that came in between losses to Ivory Coast and Morocco via the same scoreline.

On Monday, Tau shot wide for Bafana Bafana midway through the first half, but Morocco took control of a dull game after the break.

English coach Stuart Baxter can rely on his players to give their all, as always, but the lack of a cutting edge and creative talent is set to prove costly.

The underdogs have yet to concede in the first half, though, so 3/1 for the scores to be level at the interval and then the Pharaohs to prevail is added to our Egypt vs South Africa betting tips.

Additional stats

Last result:

Uganda 0-2 EGYPT – Salah, Elmohamady

SOUTH AFRICA 0-1 Morocco

Head-to-head: South Africa 1-0 Egypt, Egypt 1-0 South Africa
